Wit & Wisdom Ab-Solution Jeans – Come Shopping with Me!
I’ve been hearing about Wit & Wisdom jeans for a long time. Then, during my spring trends and colors reconnaissance outing at the mall (check out that post here), I encountered a sea of Wit & Wisdom jeans at Nordstrom. I decided it was time to check them out.
So back I went to my local Nordstrom store, about 40 minutes north of where I live, for a Wit & Wisdom spree.
This was my very first time ever trying the brand. So here we go with my try-on feedback.
Before we move into the jeans conversation, just for fun, take a glance at the behind-the-scenes time lapse video documenting the creation of the last 40 images for this post. You’ll find it at the end of the post.
What’s Wit & Wisdom?
From the Wit & Wisdom website:
“Wit and Wisdom is a contemporary, fashion-forward denim lifestyle brand born and raised in Southern California. We design real-time fashion for a dynamic and playful, fierce yet feminine, modern, and confident woman.
“We are passionate about jeans and the women who wear them. Our ‘Ab’ solution Denim with Fit Technology has a devoted following among women who love a great fitting, shape-enhancing, super comfortable, never want to take them off pair of jeans, and who doesn’t want that!?!”
Now back to me – here are the features that make the jeans different:
- Ab-solution – All Wit & Wisdom jeans waistbands are lined inside with a lightweight, stretch band. This feature results in a flattering fit and comfort.
- The jeans have the right amount of spandex content (should not be more than 3%) so they’ll keep their shape as you wear them.
- The price is pretty budget friendly: $50-$80.
- There are a lot of style options as well as colors and denim washes.
- Wit & Wisdom is sold exclusively at Nordstrom, so they’re easy to find. (From my research, it’s not a Nordstrom brand but an external brand with an exclusive arrangement with Nordstrom.)
So come on into the fitting room with me!
High Waist Ankle Skinny Pants
These skinnies have a nice fit* with a little room at the ankle. The little split at the hem is a cute style detail, and they come in 8 colors. They have the Ab-solution “technology,” as do all of the jeans in this post. They are super comfy, like all of the Wit & Wisdom jeans I tried. So that you can have a complete “picture” of each style, I’m including a rear view even though I’m not excited about it. You’re welcome!
The top I’m wearing with these jeans is a Vince Camuto poet-inspired blouse. I love it (but I didn’t buy it . . . yet). Take a look at the sleeve detail below.
All of the jeans featured in this post, as well as the tops I tried, are linked in the widgets below.
*All of these jeans have a nice fit, so I’ll only say that once.
High Rise Slim Straight
The three styles below are all the high rise slim straight style in different washes. They fit close and appear figure hugging, but they don’t feel snug at all.
This style features the fun raw edge hem.
Same Vince Camuto top again.
This slim straight below style has a modern silhouette. This is probably my favorite shape of the newer jeans trend styles – not too loose or baggy but not super skinny. I like the raw edge hem – it gives the jeans a contemporary casual vibe.
The blouse I’m wearing is the same blouse from this post that featured it in pink and also a black and white print, but in the color Teal Nile (the blouse comes in 12 colors). I love the cross front and the lightweight fabric that still gives coverage to the arms. It looks tucked in but it’s not! And the back hem is a little longer in a shirt tail style, which I also love.
The jeans below are the same style and wash as above, but I have to show you the super cute and happy top! The colors just shout spring and summer, and the style is a little flirty. It’s a little low in the back for my comfort – it just kind of bugs me. But it’s a winner in all other aspects. It’s linked below.
High Rise Slim Straight Crop
I love the shade of green of these jeans. They also have the cool raw edge hem – still a trending feature. For some reason, I wasn’t able to find these jeans on the Nordstrom website with the color options (there were quite a few colors in the store). Maybe they’re an in-store exclusive? But I like the variation from the skinny style we’ve been wearing for so long.
I’m wearing the Vince Camuto bloused mentioned above and linked below. Love love it!
High Rise Vintage Skinny
I’m a sucker for button front jeans. This style feature combined with the faded vintage wash brings me right back to the 70’s (I know I’m dating myself). Again, like the skinnies above, Wit & Wisdom seems to modify the hem opening so it isn’t so skinny while keeping the leg body skimming.
Wit & Wisdom in the Wild
Let’s get out of the fitting room and see what a pair of Wit & Wisdom jeans looks like out in the wild!
This is the high rise vintage skinny with the button front. I’ve styled the jeans with some variety to give an idea of how you could wear these or most any jeans.
I played with cuffing the hem in the photos below and styling the jeans with different types of shoe styles.
First, the heeled sandals dress up the jeans (you’ve seen these shoes in several past posts and I’m so excited that I can wear them again this spring and summer). This look could take you out to dinner, to a casual party, to a show – pretty much anyplace that you want to be comfortable (remember – Ab-solution!) and casual but with an elevated vibe.
Girlfriend Tie Hem Button-Up Shirt
We have to talk about this shirt by Sanctuary. It’s a little bit of 70s + modern + dressy + casual all at the same time. I love the tie front and the waist length hem in the back so it doesn’t have to be tucked in. And can we talk about the abstract print?! It’s a winner all the way around (linked below).
Below we’ve gone much more casual with the jeans paired with comfy slide sandals. This look is perfect for a spring bbq, a shopping outing, a coffee date, or lunch with the girls.
And here’s another way to wear the shirt – tuck in the ties and roll up the sleeves. A whole new look!
Doesn’t it look a little throwback with that print and the button front jeans?!
Look #3 gets even more laid back with slip on sneakers. It’s perfect for visiting friends, a picnic, kids’ birthday parties (do you go to those?).
Wit & Wisdom Jeans Thoughts
After trying a number of styles, I can attest that Wit & Wisdom jeans are absolutely comfortable. I love the high waist styles – so much better than lower rise jeans that cut in and give almost everyone a muffin top. All of the styles in the store and those I tried are lightweight denim and appropriate for spring. The price is great – they feel like a higher end jeans brand without the premium cost. One thing – I’ve worn jeans that do a better job of enhancing the rear view.
Wit & Wisdom Jeans
The links below include the jeans featured in this post (minus the green ones that I couldn’t find) as well as a few other styles. I also decided to link Wit & Wisdom shorts since we’re moving into shorts season and they are so comfortable.
Here are the cute tops I paired with the jeans in the fitting room plus the print tie-front shirt. Also, check out the beautiful sleeve detail on the cream colored Vince Camuto blouse.
