Lavender and Polka Dots
Playing with Spring Trends from Target
Following last week’s Spring Trends post, I thought it would be fun to try a couple of this coming spring’s fun looks. But no time to shop – either online or brick and mortar. So . . . light bulb moment! On my usual Target trip for household items, I cruised through the clothing and accessories departments to check out their spring trends selection. Since Target does so many collaborations with designers, I was pretty sure I’d be able to find a few of the trends that were included in last week’s post. My Target sweep didn’t disappoint.
I nabbed a couple of fun lavender items and some polka dots. (I could have just shopped my closet for dots – it’s one of my obsessions!)
Dots and Lavender and Fringe . . . Oh My!
This is a fun blouse by Who What Wear for Target (Tiny Polka Dots, $24.99 but on sale now for $19.99). The polka dots are subtle and the bell sleeves feature a whimsical tie. Also available in plus size.
Also really fun are the lavender fringe earrings (Sugarfix by Baublebar, $12.99). Fringe is another trend for spring, and incorporating it with accessories is a way to enjoy the dimension that the fringe texture brings without having to go over the top with a fringe look. This is also an example of how to add a pop of a fun color to a neutral look. An eye catcher, right?
Polka dots again! This is another Who What Wear – a longline polka dot tank (I can only find it in plus size now, $19.99 on sale). I like the drape of this tank and it has a pretty pearl button on the back. The size of the black polka dots on the cream background is a classic spring pattern, and I am sure it’s an easy print to find. It looks great with lavender.
This long cardigan is a beautiful shade of the spring color. The lavender (the manufacturer labels it “violet”) shade isn’t one I usually wear – in fact, I have no lavender (or violet or lilac) in my closet. But I really like the combination. This long sweater, Belted Open Cardigan by A New Day, is $24.99 at Target. There’s a belt detail on the back – a little hidden surprise until you turn.
I had some challenges with the photo shoot on the day we took the polka dot photos. It looks like a gorgeous early spring day, but it was cold and windy. Wind is not great for photographing outfits. Although I ended up with a few I could use.
I decided to take some shots a couple of days later, when this wind wasn’t such a factor. However, it was a bit nippy still, hence the scarf and boots.
I think it’s interesting to see the combination of spring and winter, with the lavender sweater and the black and silver scarf, gray jeans, and booties. It works. And I love the juxtaposition!
This post was not sponsored by Target nor are the links affiliated with any commissions that I might earn (which is the most common way bloggers earn money, by the way!). I just thought it would be fun to explore a budget friendly way to dress on-trend.
