INC Blue Printed Crisscross Maxi Dress
. . . The One I Didn’t Wear
There’s something so striking about this print maxi dress. Is it the crisscross diamond pattern? Is it the color combination of blue, black, and white? Is it the statement made by the beautiful column silhouette? Whatever it is, this dress is a standout.
I spotted this beautiful maxi dress on a shopping outing just before our Maui trip. I was a bit smitten and thought it would be perfect for our vacation. I decided to wear it on the flight – I was going to the tropics and may as well wear something bright. Plus, this dress does not wrinkle, making it the perfect travel outfit. It also satisfied another of my flying attire criteria: it covered my compression stockings. I know, I know, I sound so old. But after long flights I always spend several days dealing with swollen ankles; if I wear compression stockings, no problems. So I need my travel outfit to hide that attractive accessory.
Every day on Maui this dress asked if she could go out and pleaded with me to wear her. But the right occasion never arose. So I packed the dress to go home and haven’t worn it since that day of travel.
I’m still hoping for the right occasion – we are going to a barbeque party this weekend. Maybe . . .
Denim Jacket Crush
I love the look of a denim jacket. I have several in different washes. This Gap denim jacket is faded and a bit frayed, and it’s my favorite. A denim jacket can change or tone a look. It can put a little edge to a super feminine look. It adds dimension to a dressy outfit when you don’t want it to be too dressy. It goes with super casual and super dressy looks. And, yes, you can even wear a denim jacket with blue jeans – denim on denim is still a yes!
Style & Co. Wedge Sandals in Cork (Macys)
These feminine, low profile wedge sandals filled a gap in my shoe wardrobe. They come in several colors (black, navy, coffee, nude patent), and I chose the cork version that I’m wearing here. I wanted a color that makes the shoe invisible and the cork look is fun and different from anything else I have. I looks like that version is no longer available, but the coffee color might accomplish to look of a nude shoe. They are really easy to wear – no buckles!
I love the way the multi-strap design carries to the back of the dress.
Thai Fresh Water Pearl Tiered Necklace
This necklace is stunning . . . another thing I rarely wear. I bought it from a vendor during our annual Monterey Jazz Festival weekend some years ago. I think the tiered design fills in the neckline nicely. The white color of the pearls don’t fight with the strong pattern of the dress.
Swarovski Stardust Crystal Bracelet
This stunning bracelet was a birthday gift a few years ago. It’s one of Swarovski’s most popular I think. It’s sort of a tube with small crystals inside. In the sun, the crystals come alive and sparkle. The bracelet is designed to wrap around the wrist. I can also wear it as a choker necklace (it probably depends on the neck size for this to work). It comes in a variety of colors, but I really love the neutral color. It’s well priced too – under $60..
ili New York Eyeglass Case
I love, love, love this eyeglass case! I discovered it in one of our local shoe stores and bought in red with a black eyeglass design. It’s become one of my favorite gifts to give. I was surprised to discover it on Amazon while I was researching for this post at a price much lower than my local retailer offers – $18.70! It’s a super fun case for your glasses and can also double as a small clutch purse. (If you decide to purchase, please use my link as I’m an Amazon affiliate and earn a small – very small – commission from purchases made through my Amazon links. Your price is the same. The photos are linked as as well. Thanks!)
