No-Tuck Blouse – No Tuck In Needed!
I love the look of a tucked in blouse. But sometimes the front tuck doesn’t lay right or stay in place. I often find myself fidgeting with a tucked in blouse so much that I wonder if it’s worth the look.
This Halogen cross front blouse solves those fidgety issues. It’s a no-tuck blouse that looks tucked in!
Halogen is a Nordstrom brand focusing on a mix of affordable work-to-weekend pieces.
Before this post continues, I need to explain the photo shoot setting. I had a lesson in flexibility! The photo setting you see is what I’ve begun calling my studio. It’s a combo dressing room, makeup space, and office (it used to be one of my kid’s bedroom). And now with a photo shoot under its belt, it’s earned the name I’d recently given it: Studio.
I was all ready to set out with my camera and clothes for an outdoor photo shoot. But the universe had other plans! Combine a windy day (not a good setting for taking pictures) and four (yes 4!) dead camera batteries, and the photo shoot transitioned to my iPhone and my little studio.
Not my ideal setting, but it got the job done. 🙂
Back to the No-Tuck Blouse!
This versatile and fun no-tuck blouse (the fidgeting problem solver) is short at the front hem and has a shirt tail hem in the back (see below). The front is slightly gathered, giving the blouse a loose tucked in look. Perfectly set up for a front tuck look. Or tuck on the back hem and you have a classic look ready for the office, a girls day out, or a night on the town!
I have another blouse that I bought about six months ago in a very similar style – no tuck! I’ve loved the the ease of it and was so happy to find this style in so many colors. A no-tuck blouse makes getting dressed and looking put together for the duration so simple.
I chose my two favorites colors to feature in the post – pink and black/white. But this blouse comes in many colors and prints. And the lightweight fabric is perfect for spring.

Here’s the same blouse style in a modern black and white print pattern (lots more colors and prints – see below).
It looks tucked in. But it’s not!
The contrast of the white pants and black boots looked a little harsh, so I thought I’d try a more monochromatic styling. The look of the boots in the same color as the pants does elongate the legs. Either way, a black and white combo is always classic and fresh.
Nordstrom Halogen Cross Front Blouse
This easy to wear and style blouse comes in a wide assortment of colors and prints – more than you see pictured below (click the images to see more colors or shop). It’s available in petite and plus sizes too!
It has a small incorporated snap closure at the bottom of the v neck, which definitely helps to keep things modest. I still wore a camisole underneath, and I recommend it.
The fit is pretty true to size. The sleeves seem to run long, so if you have short arms, I’d suggest trying it in petite and try both your typical size and one size up (if you’re not usually a petite).
Let me know how you like the blouse if you get one!
And Plus Sizes Too!
