I’ve been a little intrigued by the white boot look for a while. It wasn’t a must-have, but the thought of a whimsical accessory like white ankle boots just wouldn’t leave me alone. Then my girlfriend bought a pair. Hmmm. Now I was starting to want a pair a little bit more. And then one day, there they were, on the sale rack in the Nordstrom shoe department. A way I could jump into the look without a big cost commitment.
“How do I style them?” I asked the store shoe stylist. “You can wear them with anything!” she replied enthusiastically.
I now have a pair of white ankle boots in the middle of winter. How do I style them? What can I wear them with? No problem! Right to Google I went. And she was right – white ankle boots go with pretty much everything.
I decided to try out a few looks, which are pictured below.
Today I wore them for real to work with a mint green pair of corduroy jeans, an off white and black print loose blouse, and a casual black-gray jacket. I threw on a lightweight scarf in off white to tie in the boots a little more.
I’ve seen white ankle boots (aka booties) styled with dresses and skirts, and if I was comfortable with that look, I’d probably try it. But my comfort zone during the cold weather months is jeans and pants. So that’s what you see here.
Winter Sweater and White Boots
I tried my first look with a similar colored sweater that gave no illusion that I was pining for spring in my white boots. I added a pair of green skinny jeans – not too dark. It felt a bit safe. And I liked it! What do you think?
White Boots Casual
This next look is still pretty safe. I’ve kept the color tones light. I really like the style of these jeans. It’s nice to rotate something other than skinny jeans. These have a straight leg profile, and the raw edge hem gives them an edgy vibe that I like. I think I’d feel a little dumpy wearing them if not for the hem. The white boots really help feature that hem.
White Boots with Black
Okay – so far, so good. I’m beginning to believe that white boots can be styled with a variety of looks. Here we go. I went major contrast in the next look. I think this is actually my favorite.
Try an Eclectic Look
At the end of the photo shoot day, I decided to throw in a kind of whimsical, eclectic look and paired the white boots with my fun, baggy pants. I tried it with two different style and color jackets. Again, I’m giving it a thumbs up!
Intrigued by the Look?
The boots I have are Madewell. I purchased them on sale, which usually means the selection is dwindling. They don’t seem to be available at most retailers. But the style is a basic, western inspired ankle boot. Check out some white boot styles here for some fun white boot inspiration.
