If you’re reading this post in real-time – March 20, 2020 – we are in the midst of a time in the world like we’ve never seen. It’s so easy to immerse ourselves in a lot of scary and depressing news, which can’t help but have a negative effect on our emotions, our interactions, our outlook, our health. Of course, we all are going to have moments of feeling unsettled. We can’t control what’s happening out there, and that doesn’t feel good.
What we can control is how we are reacting to what is going on. We can control what we choose to listen to, watch, read. We can control what actions we decide to take throughout our day, from as simple as putting smile on our face to making sure to move/exercise to raising the spirits of people who are having a tough time. We can take care of ourselves in the best way available – self-care is a good thing. We can control how we choose to show up in our relationships.
I’m not here to preach. This is a message to myself, and I’m sharing it with whoever is reading it.
We need to believe that we will get through these challenging times. We need to be there for each other. And although we are focusing on distancing ourselves from one another at a time when we need each other the most, we have to figure out how we can be a source of support to those we love and for those that maybe we don’t even know.
I’m going to spend some time thinking about how I can shed light instead of spread darkness. If you have some thoughts to share about that, I’d love to connect – email me at email@example.com or share a comment at the end of this post.
I plan to continue posting on Dez & Dot about fun things. We always need something fun to distract us, and never more than now. So, here we go with some fashion and style talk.
Spring Friendly Elbow Length Sleeve
I discovered the elbow length sleeve a few years ago. My long-held opinion that a mid-length sleeve on a t-shirt was not fashionable was turned on its head. The secret to the style is a sleeve that fits the arm snugly. This creates a silhouette that is simple, clean, modern, and youthful.
I’d had a hard time finding a stylish elbow sleeve t-shirt until now. I guess this is the year for this style!
I am beginning to feel more comfortable with a little more arm coverage as my aging skin loses elasticity (darn!). This elbow length sleeve is really perfect – but only if it doesn’t look frumpy. So I’m repeating that the key is to make sure the elbow length sleeve is very fitted to your arm, not loose.
Gap Elbow Sleeve T-Shirt
I nabbed this Gap style in three colors – the price is right* and the go-with-everything colors are easy to wear. I’ve shown the colors with three different looks, from an elevated black and leopard booties ensemble to a super casual errand-running outfit with the mist blue tee (it also comes in pink). The white t-shirt pairing is a bit boring. It could use some jewelry or a scarf to perk it up a bit. I also notice that the sleeves loosened up a bit with wearing and I’m hoping they’ll reshape after a wash. I think they will.

Elbow Sleeve T-Shirt
Here are a few options if you’d like to try the style. The first t-shirt below is the Gap square neck t-shirt shown in this post. (I don’t look like the mode for sure. Also, I bet the t-shirt is pinned in the back for a closer fit on her!). Remember, a fitted sleeve is the key to the look.
