Dressy Sandals – Add Some Sparkle to Your Summer Outfits
What’s the perfect blend of fashion and comfort that will also elevate any outfit this spring and summer?
Add dressy sandals to your summer look and level up any outfit, from formal looks to jeans.
Following last week’s post on formal dresses, it makes sense (to me at least!) to dive into dressy sandals that can complement a formal look, like the ones from this post, as well as give a fun vibe a casual outfit.
I’m on the hunt for the right dressy sandal style to wear with my mother of the groom dress. And I’m inviting you along!
This post feature six styles that I tried at home, and I’ve curated a selection of additional styles at the end of the post that might work for an occasion you have coming up this summer.
My checklist for dressy sandals includes:
- Looks good with my outfit.
- Comfortable for walking, dancing, and wearing for hours.
- Sturdy heel for good support.
- They stay on my feet – no slipping and sliding around.
- Can be used for more than one occasion.
Each of the styles pictured below, which I tried at home, check the comfy box – I’ll say that now and not repeat it for each shoe style.
I played with pairing the dressy sandal styles with different looks from a dinner date dress to a garden party frock to a jeans look – maybe cocktails with the girls. I realized that shine and sparkle should not be simply relegated to our very dressy occasions. There’s a way to incorporate the glitz into almost any kind of outfit!
Sparkly Dressy Sandals
I’ve never added a pair of fun shiny sandals or shoes to my footwear collection. I know – late to the party. I had a lot of fun trying on these dressy sandal looks and experimenting with how they look with different types of outfits and levels of dressiness and casualness.
I started with the glittery ✨ crystal sandals in two styles – one with a block heel and the other a little narrower but still sturdy because of its width.
I love the look, but I decided I need to explore other styles too.
Gold (Muted) Dressy Sandals
When I pulled the below Dolce Vita sandals out of the box, my first reaction was, “That’s a no.” But . . . when I put them on with this dress, they seemed perfect. And contrary to how they might look, they are really comfortable. It’s the only gold-tone gold sandals I tried, and I realized that gold is what works best for this kelly green color. What do you think?
Sparkles + Jeans
It’s totally fine to wear your sparkly sandals with jeans of any color. I paired these twinkling sandals with white jeans for a spring vibe.
Satin Dressy Sandals
I don’t even remember ordering the satin sandals pictured below! I’ve now fallen in love with them but can’t think of a reason to keep them. 😩
I love how the sandals look with the black skinnies. The also lend a formal feel to the slip dress.
Asymmetric Slide Sandal
The slide sandal style below is fun – although not exactly in the “dressy” category in the same way that the shiny styles are. I’m a fan of asymmetric elements in clothing and accessories, and the diagonal design of the sandal’s topline adds interest. The top is a synthetic, neoprene-ish fabric. Very comfortable. And this shoe adds the surprise of a translucent block heel. I couldn’t resist!
And the Verdict Is . . .
At this point, I’m still looking. I’m researching dyable shoes (remember the ‘70s?) and blue dressy sandals since my dress is blue. However, both of those options torpedo the “can be used for more than one occasion” criteria. The reality is that the dress is long and pretty much hides the shoes. So whatever dressy sandal style I find will likely work just fine.
It was fun to experiment with different looks that could work with dressy sandals. How would you style them?
