Black Duster Cardigan
. . . and Those White Boots
Black is creeping into my outfits more and more as we travel into fall. By the time spring arrives, I’m typically so done with black that I think I’ll never wear it again. Then, after wearing lighter colors all spring and summer, I’m ready to incorporate black into my outfits again.
This is how I came to add this black duster cardigan to my fall/winter wardrobe.
I am so enamored of the camel duster cardigan (posted about six weeks ago) that I purchase a couple of months ago, I decided adding the same sweater in black made sense. I love the fabric content that includes silk – it gives the sweater this beautiful smooth look and is lightweight.
I’m also very attracted the length of this cardigan. I love the long length. This length may not work on everyone. I’m on the taller side – 5′ 6″ – and I have long legs. I like that the sweater length hits at the knee rather than above the knee. The longer length give it an elegant silhouette. Most long cardigans that I’ve seen hit above the knee. The above-the-knee length is more common, and I’m typically drawn to clothes that stand out in some way from what is common.
My white booties are creeping into my look here. I’m still a bit obsessed with these white booties. In fact, I just may have to add another white boot to my shoe wardrobe this season.
It’s fun to incorporate the contrast of the black clothing with the surprise of the white bootie. The white and black striped top adds an element that gives continuity to the look, but I’ve worn the white booties with all black, and I think it works, incorporating that element of surprise.
If you, like me, layer indoors during the colder months, a lightweight cardigan could be a fun style addition to your outfits. It will elevate your look and keep you warm at the same time. That’s my plan!
