Although I’m a regular Amazon shopper, I’ve never shopped clothing with Amazon until now. I decided it was time to try Amazon sweater shopping because: (1) sweaters are a perfect winter clothing item to have fun with, and (2) sweaters are fairly easy to shop without trying them on first.
What’s helpful when shopping Amazon, as all Amazon shoppers know, is the reviews from actual customers who have purchased the products. I definitely used reviews to guide these sweater purchases. I chose my regular size in each of the sweaters featured in this post, and they all fit true to size. All of the sweaters here are available in a variety of colors. All of the styles are under $40, and the black sweater is a very budget friendly $28 as of this writing.
Burgundy V-Neck Sweater
This v-neck burgundy sweater, above, is a versatile style – it’s festive and cozy for holiday wear as well as a classic style for the office. It works well with black jeans, shown here, dressier pants, and jeans. I like the fitted sleeves as they give the sweater a modern and youthful silhouette. The buttons add interest (unintentionally, most of the sweaters I tried have button features). It’s also very soft. This sweater is styled with one of my favorites – my black AG jeans – and my new Blondo Dagger lug sole boots (see below for more info). The sweater is available in 22 colors. (Check out the AG Jeans semi-annual sale with up to 50% off styles. This is final sale, so make sure you know your size – go to a store that carries the brand to try them on before you buy. This is a premium priced brand, so shopping the sale is a great way to buy AG.)
Striped (or not) Lightweight Mock Turtleneck
I’m a sucker for stripes, so I couldn’t resist this style. On the right, I’ve folded the hem under a bit so the bottom of the sweater hits just above the hip. On the right, the full length of the sweater hits almost below the hip. This is a bold and fun design – a little whimsical with the stripe pattern and kept low key with the black and white color palette. I like that the stripe pattern is not close to the face, which can sometimes feel distracting and little overwhelming. This sweater comes in a variety of colors, including other stripe combinations as well as solids – 13 options. It feels very comfortable. I’ve styled this look with black skinny jeans from White House Black Market and tall riding style boots.
Asymmetric Wrap Pullover
I was really intrigued by this chunky style with a waffle knit inspired texture. The buttons are decorative and don’t actually unbutton. I love the asymmetric lines and, though I’m not usually a fan of cowl neck sweaters (they usually drive me crazy), this one stays put with the fun buttoned strap. This sweater is available in 19 colors!
I first styled this sweater with denim jeans (AG Farrah skinnies) and brown booties. Then I thought I’d try it with brown straight pants and tan booties. Each look has it’s own personality! The jeans look is a great shopping, lunch date, movie night look, while the sweater paired with brown pants could take you to the office, as well as casual outings.
Chunky Mock Turtleneck Sweater
I think of the five sweaters featured in this post, the sweater above is my favorite. I like chunky sweaters, and this one has the look but not the weight and bulk. I will say the color on the Amazon website looked very different than the actual color turned out to be (this is called rust). I like this well enough to try it in a different color. In addition to solids, this style has several color block options (27 options!). I’ve styled with straight leg jeans with a raw edge hem by Yoga Jeans, a brand I discovered in a local boutique, and Born Laney Chelsea style black booties (one of my favorites that I wear on repeat). Read about Yoga Jeans here. They aren’t made for yoga, but they are comfortable enough to wear for yoga!
Henley Style Pullover Sweater
Classic black is timeless and sophisticated. This henley style sweater is very easy to wear with a straight hem and relaxed fit. The front can be tucked for a different look. Wear it to work, for running errands, to holiday get-togethers – it can go anywhere! This sweater is available in 15 colors. I’m wearing with the straight Yoga Jeans and Born Laney Chelsea boots.
And the Lug Sole Boots!
These are the boots I mentioned in my last post – the ones I’d order but hadn’t yet received. I love them! They are on trend with the lug sole style, and have a bit of a polished look that makes me feel like I’m not trying to be 25. I’m wearing them in the photo with the burgundy sweater and black jeans, above. The brand is Blondo, a line of boots that combine style with waterproofing. Wear them in the rain and you’ll feel stylish at the same time as keeping your feet dry. Plus they are very comfy. If you decide to try them, it’s recommended to size up a half size as they run small. I did that, and they fit perfectly.
The widget below shows other Blondo lug sole styles. The first one is the Blondo Dagger Waterproof Boot in the taupe nubuck option (they come in 6 colors).
