Waterproof Boots

Waterproof Boots

As of this morning, we’ve had three days of rain since Halloween. The rainy season has arrived. And just in time, I’ve discovered a fabulous line of stylish waterproof boots. Yes, waterproof!

While browsing the Nordstrom fall sale boot selection (I always go right to the shoes during a Nordstrom sale), I came across Blondo waterproof boots. I was intrigued. These looked like normal boots – leather and suede – not like my current waterproof boot that is made of plastic/rubber.

As you may know, when Nordstrom has a big sale, you have to act fast before inventory is depleted, so I put the boots in my shopping bag right away. I chose two colors of the Liam style Blondo waterproof boots: black and beige (they call it mushroom suede).

I ordered the boots to pick up at the store (I was impatient!) and within an hour they were ready for pick up. The benefit to picking up at the store was that I could try them on and get another size if the size I chose didn’t work – reviews I read indicated that this style may run a little small.

When I picked up the boots, I knew right away that the beige color wasn’t for me. It wasn’t the shade of beige that I had in mind. Phew! I didn’t have to buy two pairs! However, the black was a dark, rich black. The boots did feel a bit snug around the toes at first, so I was able to try a half size larger, which felt wider but not longer. So I stuck to my original order, which is my regular size. (At home I walked around in them a bit and they ended up being great – not too tight/small.)

I was anxious to test the waterproof-ness of these new waterproof boots, and this week’s Wednesday rain gave me the perfect opportunity. Wow! I was impressed with the steel-like resistance to water. Check out the photo below showing how water beads up on the suede.

Note: When I first took the boots out of the box, there was a definite smell from the product that is used in the waterproofing process, but that dissipated pretty quickly.

The Liam style that I purchased is pictured below. There are a number of different Blondo styles available. Check out the link at the bottom of the post.

These waterproof boots have great style, in addition to being utilitarian. I would definitely wear them on dry days, and I am excited to have something great looking to wear during the wet weather.

Note: This was a dry photo day. Proof that these waterproof boots are great in any weather!

Fall Sweater

Last week in the Fall Sweater Shopping post I showed you one of the sweaters I chose on my sweater speed shopping expedition. And promised to show you what else I came home with. As promised . . .

I love this soft, warm, lightweight sweater. It’s not a color I am normally attracted to, but somehow in the slightly chunky style it works for me. This may make my casual Thanksgiving outfit.

Surprise! I ended up going back to J. Fermi to look again at this fun sweater. I found a parking spot right IN FRONT of the store – this was my sign that it was meant to be! And, yes, it came home with me. Both of these sweaters are Jana. Super soft and wonderful quality. I’ve linked the Jana site to both images. I don’t see a large selection of sweaters, but there are a few beautiful styles.
