It’s fall! No disputing it now. And it’s time to explore fall colors and embrace a new palette. It’s always fun to see what the “new” colors are each season. Fall isn’t my favorite season, but I have to admit that by the time we are fully into fall (it’s October, so it’s time!), I’m kind of ready to hang up my summer hues and jump into a deeper color palette.
It’s interesting to peek into the Pantone top ten colors each season. Adding a piece or two in the new colors can give new life to your wardrobe. But I bet that if you look into your closet, you’ll find colors that are close enough to the seasonal color palette to put together some fresh looks.

This week I decided to experiment with some pairings I wouldn’t typically choose. I rifled through my summer colors (we’ve still been having summer-like weather here in Sonoma County, so I haven’t put away summer items quite yet) and found a few more saturated tones that are close to some of the Pantone 2017 fall colors.
Styling gray with gray is not how I usually wear this color. Mixing the gray with a neutral taupe (or fall 2017’s butterum) warms up the steely feel of gray and creates a rich neutral palette. I like the different tones of the grays here in the top, leggins, and boots.

The pairing below is really a leap for me. I am usually more comfortable wearing a deep color with something neutral or a lighter color. I love these wine colored AG skinny jeans and am looking forward to wearing them this fall and winter. They are a heavier weight jean and more suited to cooler weather days, and I’ve been eyeing them in the closet for several months. It was fun to try combining them with the deep green shirt, however, not sure I’d actually wear these together in real life. What do you think?

I’m looking forward to exploring fall colors a bit more and adding something new from the color palette. But it’s not necessary to plan a shopping spree around the fall 2017 colors. Peek into your closet and my guess is you’ll find some shades that work well for fall and winter and mimic the 2017 colors.
Next week I’ll try a couple of other colors from the Pantone Top Ten 2017 Fall Colors. If you decide to style a look with something from the palette, let me know.
